Up at 3 a.m. We took off from Bradley late due to rain, landed in Chicago at Midway, then arrived in Portland on time. It's warm here and sunny. Jan is happy!
We picked up the RV an hour early then headed to Fred Meyers which is like a Stop and Shop and Target combined, only nicer. We stocked up on food, drinks, and things like pillows, beach chairs etc.
By 3 pm we were heading west on the interstate toward Tillamook and the seacoast. We just missed getting into rush hour traffic! Lucky for us.
We crossed over a 1000 ft elevation mountain ridge driving 40 miles through the Tillamook State Forest. The mountains are mostly covered with some variety of pines that are very pointy. All of their branches are covered with moss. It's beautiful and looks like elf heaven.
Our campsite is right over the dunes and the beach is long and shallow. This evening the fog rolled in between 5 and 6 pm.
More pictures later when we get wifi. For now... A short glass of Bridgeview Pinot
Noir and then time to make up the bed and get some sleep.
