Dogs...a favored pet. Often German Shepherd except in the cities where they seem to be terriers (aka/small yappy dogs). Almost always walked off leash. Poop is everywhere and ,apparently not

Bathrooms. Hotel bathrooms have no shelves, but they do have bidets. Bidets with lids make good shelves for your toiletries (upside down pix).  Many varieties of smelly essences for soap, bath gel, shampoo, cleaning solvents means the allergic nose is always under attack.


Beds. Hotel pillows in Spain are 10" wide and 3' long resembling a pant leg. Bunching them up is not as satisfying as a good old standard pillow. One set of pillows was made of memory foam and too heavy too lift.

Outdoor Cafes are everywhere! What a great idea. All the chairs are picked up and put away sometime between 4 and 8 pm.

Living out of a suitcase has its advantages... No one knows that you've worn the same black slacks and red shirt to dinner for 10 nights in a row. ;)

Electricity. Spain has really embraced electricity conservation it seems. Most of our hotel rooms required us to put the room key card in a slot to turn on the elec. When we left we had to take the card with us, so we didn't leave any lights on. Also, they have huge wind farms producing a lot of electricity. Too bad the US isn't seriously in favor of wind farms.

Bread. As already noted, Spain has wonderful bread and they put a basket on your dinner table when they serve your drinks. So far, similar to the US. But...the pieces are each the size of a fist and they don't serve it with bread or olive oil and no small plate. So it's always puzzling to us whether we're meant to just eat it over the table and let the breadcrumbs fall on the table, or are we supposed to wait until the rest of our meal is served???

The Rest of the Meal. Not sure that we really have this figured out but it seems like you order a starter (appetizer) and then a second (entre) and then postre (dessert). The 'second' seems to be just a single item...a wonderful piece of grilled fish perhaps, but never any rice, potato, noodles, or veggies. Just a piece of fish, seafood, or meat.

Kindle Scrabble was a worthwhile purchase; gotten a lot of use (pix) during downtime ... Like waiting for tomorrow's flight. We need to be at the airport at 5 am.
